About:

my name is Normandie Wilson and this is my lifelong quest to visually represent every living* species of bird on Earth. My main goal is to touch and inspire every person on the planet to participate in conservation efforts through education and appreciation for the many beautiful birds that we are fortunate enough to share our world with. I have been a birder from a very young age - both my grandmothers were avid birders and I grew up in rural West Virginia watching the birds through a very large glass kitchen window. I feel that nothing can be more beautiful than nature and nature's creatures. I do not sign my work anymore. I can't really take credit for how amazing these birds are. I can only be happy that I can draw, paint, or otherwise visually represent them. Notice that I keep saying visually represent. I'm simply on a mission to represent every living* species of bird. Whether that is paint, pen and ink, stencil, fabric, or any of the infinite ways in which you can visually represent something, is yet to be determined, as there are about 10,000 species of birds. Questions or comments? E-mail me at: normandie(dot)wilson(at)gmail(dot)com I will also be documenting my first journey to Namibia to volunteer with the endangered Cape Griffon Vulture, and subsequent volunteer trips around the globe to volunteer with avian wildlife. *living = includes extinct in the wild IUCN designations as well as Critically Endangered designations, but DOES NOT include extinct species.
